New Season - 2015

by Unknown - 14:14 on 22 February 2015

So far our winter has given us lots of wind.  We have recorded at our home gusts of 52 knots with a sustained wind averaging around 12 - 15 knots.  This sustained wind is great for sailing but somehow it never seems to be there when you need it to sail.  We have found with the lovely steep mountains we either have much more wind than predicted - or none at all!  Red Ruth needs at least 10 knots to get her moving so we struggle whenthe wind drops during a Regatta.

The garden has not had much attention over the past few weeks as we have hardly been able to see it - low cloud and fog when we are not being blown away.  Nature's wonders though continue, despite the weather.  The Magnolia trees have continued to blossom.  The Camillia's are in full bloom and looking great - pale pink, deep red and even one that is red with white edges.  The New Zealand Christmas Tree has doubled in size and is now flowering, and the narcissi and daffodils are in flower.  We so enjoy watching it all grow despite the weather.

As soon as the weather improves we will be out hacking at the weeds again, when we are not sailing! :-)
