Winter Weather

by Lorr - 10:26 on 11 February 2012

So here we are, at almost the end of the first fortnight of February. We have visitors again, whom we are delighted to see. The winter weather in Europe is taking its toll on us all. Temperatures at around 10 degrees most days with rain, damp air and a sharp cold wind. The only satisfactory solution to the problem is to retire to a warm wine bar or restaurant and partake of some liquid refreshments. A lovely glass of hot chocolate laced with rum was a particular favourite! Yesterday was the celebration of the Feast of St Paul of the Shipwreck. The daytime parade in Valetta was interesting and a visit to the church worthwhile to see the silver and gold ornate altar and decorations. We had left by the time the mass was finished and the statue was carried around the streets of Valetta but our friends saw it in all its splendour. We had a view of the fireworks later in the evening from Msida.
