Skipper bought a Tilley Hat some time ago which has been on his head all the way up the West Coast of Scotland (from Oban) to Fair Isle, round the Orkneys and down the East Coast to Inverness, through the Caledonian Canal and down the West coast of UK to Falmouth. It survived the trip to Malta and has stayed on in gales, rain and sun. So, I thought it might be a good idea to get one for myself. The local Chandlery had a sale on clothing, which included hats, so I had a look. I even got my head measured. Unfortunately my head is too small so I had to purchase the smallest Tilley they had (size 7 if any one is interested). For those of you that know me you will know 'I don't do hats'! SO despite the hope that my lovely new Tilley, with its crown air vents, will actually stay on my head in wind, rain and sun the chances of you actually seeing me with a hat on my head are extremely slim!
As we head into Africa (well South Africa) later this year I sincerely hope that my Tilley doesn't feel that it has to test out the makers statement that they can be eaten by an elephant, washed & worn again some days late after passing through said elephant!!!
