what a week!

by crew - 11:08 on 22 May 2012

We arrived on Friday last week in Trapani in Sicily after two weeks of travelli around the East and North coast of Sicily.  I say travelling as the wind was non existent most of the time so the sailing was curtailed and we motored most of it.  At one point just outside Messina the air was so still that the tankers looked as though they were suspended in mid air.  John left us on Saturday evening and about an hour later I got a phone call to tell me that an elderly relative was very poorly and not expected to last the week.  I spent Sunday checking flights, eventually managing to book a trip.  Ryanair flies from Trapani to Luton but only on Saturday and Tuesdays.  Things were pretty bad when I arrived in Kilmarnock but after a few days we had things under control and everyone feeling a bit better although still very frail and poorly.  I flew back to the boat on Saturday hoping for some warmth, as it had been very cold in the UK - 5 degrees.  Sunday found us with an atlantic front pushing cold, windy and wet weather over the med so we are sitting in jumpers trying to keep warm.  Last night I got a call to say my son, who is in the army, is being deployed to warmer climes so the worry starts about him.  Thats life! Go well Craig <3
